Michaela Morgan, author of the picture books Dear Bunny and Bunny Wishes, divides her time between Brighton and the French Riviera but did most of her growing up in Manchester. After school she went to University to study Literature before teaching in a secondary school for two years. She then travelled all over Europe and beyond before opening a shop and working as a teacher and Writer in Residence at various prisons.
Michaela is an award-winning author. She was a recommended read for World Book Day 2007, has been short-listed for both the Blue Peter Book Award and the Children’s Book Award, named an International Reading Association Children’s Choice and has won a United Kingdom Reading Association Award. She has also contributed to many school book weeks, INSET courses and conferences. She has also been a finalist in the Birmingham Libraries Book Award.
In the USA both Dear Bunny and Bunny Wishes were chosen by more than 12,000 children to be included as a Children’s Choice by the International Reading Association.
Michaela’s advice for budding authors is just to read a lot. ‘You should allow yourself time to wonder. Don’t fill every moment with things to do and things to say. And don’t give up easily.’
