Anna McQuinn, Author
Anna McQuinn, author of The Sleep Sheep, was born in County Kerry on the west coast of Ireland. She went to a small school with only 29 pupils and just two teachers – one of whom was her dad. He once wrote on her school report, 'if Anna would take her nose out of her comics she could be very good at lots of things'.
Anna read English and History at University College Cork, studied to be an English teacher and also did a Masters in English on The Gothic Novel. She is addicted to crime novels but tries to read ‘proper’ books every third one.
Anna would love to write deeply moving novels like the ones that she enjoys, but somehow whenever she sits down to write, slightly odd or funny characters emerge – she just can’t help it!
The Sleep Sheep, with illustrations by Hannah Shaw, was published by Chicken House in April 2010 and featured as a Book at Bedtime on Cbeebies, read by Liza Tarbuck.
